Pratik Gandhi Explains Why Signing ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ Was Like Love At First Sight
Pratik Gandhi, renowned for his powerhouse performance as Harshad Mehta in the acclaimed series ‘Scam 1992’, is now venturing into the romantic genre with ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’. This marks his first foray into romance, where he shares the screen with stellar actors like Vidya Balan, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
Gandhi’s enthusiasm for the project is palpable, as he was captivated by the script within just 48 hours of reading it. He expressed his excitement, stating, “I was delighted to be offered my first romantic script and that too opposite Vidya, Sendhil, and Ileana, all amazing actors.”
The actor’s decision to embrace a lighter genre stemmed from his desire for a change of pace after the intense dramas and biopics that followed his success in ‘Scam 1992’. He elaborated, “After ‘Scam 1992’, I was inundated with dramas and biopics, so I was looking to do something light, fun, and different.”
Despite his intense roles on screen, Gandhi believes that everyone has a romantic side, including himself. He fell in love with the film’s narrative and setting, describing his instant approval by saying, “We are all romantic at heart, contrary to our screen image. I fell in love with the film and its world on reading it, and I said ‘yes’ almost immediately.”
‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’, directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, an award-winning ad filmmaker making her feature debut, promises a contemporary perspective on love against the backdrop of modern times. Audiences can anticipate the film’s release on April 19, eagerly anticipating Gandhi’s charm in a romantic avatar alongside a talented ensemble cast.
