R-Day parade rehearsals: Heavy traffic congestion in Capital, police advise to avoid commute in central Delhi | Delhi News

The Capital continued to witness traffic disruptions on Tuesday due to the ongoing Republic Day parade rehearsals with areas in central Delhi reporting heavy vehicular congestion.
According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the roads that were affected included Rajpath, Janpath, India Gate, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Ashoka Road, where either access was minimal or completely closed.
Commuters have therefore been asked to avoid these routes between 9.30 am and 1 pm, the traffic police said in an advisory.
Parking restrictions in these areas have also been put in place in view of the rehearsals.
Police have also issued traffic diversions. For the North South corridor, alternate routes include Ring Road-Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan- IP Flyover- Rajghat- Ring Road, from Madarsa- Lodhi Road ‘T’ point- Aurobindo Marg- AIIMS Chowk- Ring Road- Dhaula Kuan- Vande Matram Marg- Shankar Road- Park Street or Mandir Marg.
For the East-West corridor, the alternate routes are Ring Road- Bhairon Road- Mathura Road- Lodhi Road- Aurobindo Marg- AIIMS Chowk- Ring Road- Dhaula Kuan- Vande Matram Marg- Shankar Road- Park Street or Mandir Marg, Ring Road- Boulevard Road- Barf Khana Chowk- Rani Jhansi Flyover- Faiz Road- Vande Matram Marg- R/A Shankar Road, Ring Road- ISBT- Chandgi Ram Akhara- IP College- Mall Road- Azadpur- Punjabi Bagh.
