Botox, fillers, and rhinoplasty are commonly used terminology. Every other week, Bollywood actors are subjected to constant social media mocking for getting work done on their faces and bodies. Radhikka Madan previously said that during her early years as an actor, people would point out that she wasn’t ‘beautiful enough’ and didn’t have an appealing jawline.
Radhikka Madan keeps it real about beauty and self-acceptance; says, “I’m pretty much okay with all of that”
In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Radhikka, who has purposefully chosen not to cave to vanity pressures, says she does not look down on her classmates who have undergone surgery. She said, “I don’t judge people who get things done because it makes them feel confident and improves their self-image, which is very important.”
Speaking about how she never felt the need to give into showbiz’s high beauty standards despite many doing so around her, the Sarfira actor said, “I didn’t feel the need at that point. People used to tell me that my jaw is little tedha. Did they expect me to sit with a scale and measure it (laughs)? I was quite surprised because I was Kareena Kapoor in my head. Maybe they couldn’t see it. I didn’t buy that at that point.”
She is quick to add, however, that if she ever decides to go through the feature augmentation procedure again, she will do so without hesitation. “I still don’t buy it but maybe I will after a few years. I don’t know but I may just get it done. It all depends on the kind of self-image I have at that point. I wish it remains the way it is right now. In my mind, I’m still Kareena Kapoor. And even if it’s not, I won’t judge myself. So, I’m pretty much okay with all of that,” remarks Radhikka candidly.
Aside from suggestions for getting facials done, she admits to receiving ‘a lot of free advice’ to help her get started in the entertainment industry. She said, “I’ve heard things like ‘aaj raat ke baad tumhaari life badalne waali hai’. I kept waiting till the day after, but nothing really happened (laughs). I was even told to not step out wearing the clothes that I usually do and that I should change my wardrobe. I was asked to look a certain way to make an impression.”
She continued, “I kept thinking how and why none of these advices were related to work. Then there were some people who told me that I was doing way too arty films and that I should shift to commercial cinema and vice-versa. I felt like telling them to first decide what they wanted me to do. I always listen to everyone. I, in fact, tell them, ‘Bilkul correct hai. Yeh hi hona chahiye.’ But I always do what I think is right.”
