Raj Shekhawat’s Statement on Social Media
Raj Shekhawat, who represents the Rajput community, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns, calling out the film for its allegedly negative portrayal of the ‘Shekhawat’ surname. In a post, Shekhawat expressed his disapproval, stating, “Pushpa 2 movie has a negative role of ‘Shekhawat,’ again an insult to Kshatriyas. Karni Sainiks be ready, the producer of the movie will be thrashed soon.”
The Controversy Behind the Term ‘Shekhawat’
Shekhawat argued that the repeated use of the word ‘Shekhawat’ in a negative context in the film has disrespected the community. He went on to accuse the film industry of repeatedly using the freedom of speech to target and insult the Kshatriyas. In a video statement, Raj Shekhawat said, “The movie has done grave insult to Kshatriyas. The ‘Shekhawat’ community has been presented in a poor light.”

Karni Sena’s Potential Response
The Rajput leader didn’t hold back in his warning to the makers of Pushpa 2, further stating, “The makers of the movie should remove the continuous use of ‘Shekhawat’ from the movie, or else, the Karni Sena will thrash them inside their house and will go to any limits as required.”
Pushpa 2’s Box Office Success
Despite the backlash, Pushpa 2, directed by Sukumar, continues to perform well at the box office. The film, which stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has seen packed theatres since its release. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the film continues the story of the first Pushpa, which revolved around red sandalwood smuggling and power struggles. Allu Arjun’s portrayal of Pushpa Raj has earned critical acclaim, with the actor recently winning a National Film Award for his role in the first part of the franchise.
