“A murder case has been registered against three people, including the rape victim. Two people have been detained for questioning in connection with the case,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.

The rape accused succumbed to his injuries during treatment later in the day, said the police.

During the initial investigation, the police found that the accused left his home after receiving a call from a friend on Friday night. Around two hours later, his parents were informed that he was dropped off in an injured state at a hospital in a car by unidentified persons. The police arrived at the hospital and seized the body, and confirmed the identity of the rape accused through documents found on him.

The man’s parents have alleged their son was falsely accused in the rape case by the woman residing in their locality. They claimed that since their son came out on bail six months ago, a man had been attempting to extort money from him by threatening to secure his conviction in the rape case filed last year. They also alleged that the blackmailer and the rape victim knew each other.
