Samantha Ruth Prabhu Discuses ‘Crumbled Life Plans’ Post-Divorce In Old Clip, ‘No Expectations…’
Samantha Ruth Prabhu thought she had found her forever when she tied the knot with Naga Chaitanya on October 6, 2017, after two years of dating. Little did she know then that ‘forever’ would last only four years, with her and Chaitanya officially divorcing in 2021, coincidentally in the very same month when they got hitched, October. Cut to 2024, Naga Chaitanya is all set to give love a second shot with Sobhita Dhulipala, as he will marry her on December 4. Amid their preparations, an old video of Samantha’s candid conversation post-divorce has resurfaced, and netizens wish the best for her future.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu says her plans for life had ‘crumbled’ following her divorce from Naga Chaitanya
In an old resurfaced clip, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was seen having a candid chat with Anupama Chopra about her plans for the future. The actress candidly admitted that she had no expectations, given her past struggles, but was open to whatever was in store for her. Samantha said:
“I mean, man, with everything that has happened in my personal life in 2021, I really have no expectations (from the future). All my carefully laid plans have crumbled, so I have no expectations. I am open to whatever the future has in store for me. I just know that I will give it my very best.”
For the unversed, producer, Neelima Guna had once revealed that Samantha had been planning to start a family in 2021. In a conversation with The News Minute, Neelima opened up about approaching the actress for the movie, Shaakuntalam, and her loving the storyline but setting a condition for the shooting. Neelima recalled:
“Last year itself, when my father director Gunasekhar garu and I approached Samantha for Shaakuntalam, she loved the story and was very excited by it, but she told us that if she were to accept the role, the shooting should be completed by maximum July/August this year. She informed me that she was planning to start a family and that she wants to become a mother and that it would be her priority.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu opens up about the aftermath of a divorce from a woman’s perspective
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has rarely addressed her divorce and its after-effects in public. However, recently, she got candid about how a divorce pans out differently for men and women while speaking to Galatta India.
Samantha stated that the patriarchal nature of society meant that divorced women were often subjected to much more judgement and shaming than divorced men — both online and in real life. Talking about her own experience, Samantha said:
“Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. But what held me back, I remember having this conversation with myself when things were really, really crappy and they were really, really… absolute lies were being spread. And there were many times when I wanted to come out and say, this is not true, let me tell you the truth.”
However, instead of trying to prove herself to the world, Samantha found solace in sharing the truth with just her family and closest friends. Explaining her reasons for the same, the actress said that people would remain fickle-minded even if the record was set straight.
