Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, who goes by the name of The Liver Doc, found himself at the receiving end after many fans of Samantha Ruth Prabhu slammed him on social media. For the unversed, Samantha was recently promoting certain alternative medical practices which resulted in a major debate between her and the Liver Doc. While this row between different claims made by the two of them have continued with the actress asserting that it was recommended to her by medical professionals who treated her, the Liver Doc has now claimed that the doctors are fraud, and has gone to apologize to the actress for making some harsh remarks.

Dr. Philips took to social media to call out the two doctors, Samantha Ruth Prabhu had recommended, in a lengthy note where he accused them of several frauds and for misleading their patients. However, considering that he faced severe criticism for accusing the actress despite her having noble intentions of spreading the message of alternative medicine, especially for the ones who can’t afford, he decided to share an apology note.
“Many people messaged me directly asking me to be “kind” towards Ms. Samantha after I called her out for her public endangering misinformation on nebulization of hydrogen peroxide for respiratory viral infections. She doubled down by citing these two “doctors” who she thought were “credible” sources and shared their opinions/views without a fact-check, with her millions of followers. Some people even lashed at me, asking me to debate her “doctors” rather than pull down Samantha herself” he said.
He also went on to add, “I understand and empathize with Samantha’s health condition and I wish her the very best. I apologize if she felt uneasy or bad the way the message was conveyed. That was unintentional. My aim was her to leave behind medical misinformation peddling “doctors” who are using her vulnerability, and catering to her anecdotal experiences, for their gain. I sincerely suggest that patients with chronic illnesses, please continue with evidence-based medical practices to remain inside a safety net and sanctuary”.
I have been fighting medical/health misinformation for the longest time and it just does not seem to end. I have come to understand that the only way to fight medical misinformation is to consistently speak about it and make examples of people who mislead and misinform.

While the actress revealed that it was recommended to her by medical practitioners, the Liver Doc called her out for promoting wrong treatments.
