Sara Ali Khan brought a touch of old-world elegance to the wedding festivities for Akash Ambani’s younger brother, Anant Ambani, and his newlywed wife, Radhika Merchant. For the Shubh Aashirwad ceremony, she opted for an ivory attire which was a perfect blend of tradition and modern elegance.

Sara Ali Khan opted for a beautiful ensemble designed by Pakistani couturier Iqbal Hussain, known for his exquisite craftsmanship and timeless designs. Khan’s attire embodied a “soulful celebration of old world charm,” as described by fashion enthusiasts. The centerpiece was an ivory pure organza pishwas, a long, flowing tunic dress, that exuded grace and sophistication. The neckline, sleeves, and ghair (the flared skirt) were adorned with intricate marori work, a delicate embroidery technique that added a touch of tradition and texture.

The pishwas was further elevated by a stunning golden jaal (net) that incorporated multiple embellishment techniques. Applique work, a method of attaching pre-cut shapes onto fabric, created a base for the elaborate zardozi embroidery. Zardozi, a rich and luxurious form of embroidery involving metallic threads and other embellishments, added a dazzling shimmer to the ensemble. The jaal’s design likely incorporated age-old techniques passed down through generations of artisans, imbuing the outfit with a sense of heritage and cultural significance.

The ivory theme continued with the pure silk crushed lehenga (skirt) that flowed gracefully from the pishwas. The lehenga’s border featured a continuation of the marori work, creating a cohesive visual connection between the top and bottom elements.

To complete the look, Khan donned an ivory pure net organza dupatta (scarf). The dupatta, like the lehenga border, showcased a marori work border on all four sides. Additionally, it featured a captivating combination of marori and zardozi work booties (small, intricately embroidered motifs) scattered throughout, adding another layer of visual interest. To accessorise, she opted for a choker pearl and gold necklace, earrings and rings. She kept her hair tied in a ponytail with fresh waves and kept her make-up minimal but dewy.

Complementing Sara Ali Khan’s stunning ensemble was her younger brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan. He opted for a regal ivory bandgala jacket designed by Raghavendra Rathore. The bandgala, a traditional Indian jacket with a closed collar and a short buttoned placket, exuded sophistication in its ivory hue. Khan paired the jacket with classic white trousers and a crisp white shirt, creating a timeless and elegant look. To finish off the ensemble, he sported a pair of black shoes, adding a touch of formality.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara Ali Khan will next star in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino. On the other hand, Ibrahim Ali Khan will make his debut this year.
