In a suspected case of suicide, a 38-year-old security guard was found dead in Pune early on Wednesday, allegedly over the Maratha reservation issue, as mentioned in the suicide note, the police said.

The deceased identified as Prasad Dethe, hailing from Solapur district, was found dead in a goods tempo in Wagholi area.

“Initial probe suggests that the deceased had in the past participated in various activities and agitation raising the demand of Maratha reservation… A suicide note suspected to have been written by him cites his frustration over Maratha reservation. In the note, he has appealed to various political leaders in Maharashtra and leaders of Maratha agitation to help the community get the reservation,” said an investigation officer.

Dethe has mentioned in the note that no one should be held responsible for his death and that he was ending his life at his own will, the official added.

Police said that the man is believed to have recorded a social media video before ending his life. Dethe had moved to Pune 15 years ago, they added.
