K-pop icon SEVENTEEN made history at Glastonbury Festival on Friday as the very first K-pop band to perform on the iconic Pyramid Stage. The 13-piece act cleverly introduced themselves to the Glastonbury audience through an hour-long set alongside a live band.

WOOZI of SEVENTEEN kicked off the show playing a piano intro of their single ‘MAESTRO‘ before the rest of the members joined him on stage for a power-packed performance. The group had the crowd singing along to their hits ‘Rock with you‘, ‘HOT‘ and ‘SOS’ as well as showcased stages by each of its units–hip-hop (‘LALALI‘), performance (‘I Don’t Understand But I Luv U‘) and vocal (‘Cheers to youth‘).

Towards the end of the history-making set, JOSHUA of SEVENTEEN declared to the audience, “Even though the language, country and culture are all different, we can still connect as one, through music.”

The group left the crowd swept up by their contagious energy with a never-ending performance of ‘VERY NICE‘, which had everyone jumping up and down alongside the members, proving SEVENTEEN not only know how to have a good time themselves, but they make sure everyone in the audience can join in on the fun, too.

SEVENTEEN joins the formidable list of performers who have graced the Pyramid Stage, known as the heart of the festival, in the past including Elton John, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Oasis, Jay-Z, Coldplay, U2 and more.

Since their debut in 2015, SEVENTEEN’s ascent in the global music scene has been a story of steady growth. Their first EP 17 Carat sold about 1,600 copies in its first week. As they enter their 10th year as a group, they now hold the title for the best-selling K-pop album of all time (FML with more than 6 million copies sold), which also went on to become the best-selling album worldwide last year according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

A few days ahead of Glastonbury, the group officially assumed their role as UNESCO’s first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in Paris, after being nominated for the position in recognition of their role in uplifting and inspiring youth worldwide. SEVENTEEN will return to Europe in September for their headlining set at Lollapalooza Berlin.
