Fans loved Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal when he made an appearance in season 3 of the show. However, their happiness was short-lived as he soon left the show, and the news surfaced that he was kicked off the show by the makers. Recently, the makers of the show Shark Tank India addressed the controversy.
Veeba Founder, Viraj Bahl is happy Deepinder Goyal left the show
The Shark Tank India’s Sharks sat for a conversation with Indian Today. In its report, the publication shared that it had asked the sharks if they were worried about the ongoing controversy. To which the newest shark on the show, founder and managing director of Veeba, Viraj Bhal, said:
“I am only happy. Deepinder gaya toh mere ko jagah mil gaya. I can write a thank-you note to Zomato.”
SonyLIV Business Head, Danish Khan dismisses the Deepinder Goyal controversy
Business Head of Sony LIV, Danish Kahn, addressed the ongoing rumours about Deepinder Goyal’s departure from the show. He shared that they would love to have Deepinder back on the show at some point. He revealed that it is a 50-episode season, and the appearance depends on the sharks’ availability and space on the show. He elaborated:
“Everything that comes in newspapers is not always true. We would love to have him (Deepinder) at some point. One needs to understand that we have around 50 episodes, and there are permutations regarding the sharks’ availability. They are all busy running their organizations, and we get them to spend weekends with us. I won’t say much, but there’s no such thing as reported. Some sharks have been on the show for four seasons, and we hope to see them next time, too.”
Aman Gupta dismisses the rumours regarding Deepinder Goyal’s exit being a monetary decision
BoAt’s co-founder and chief marketing officer and an OG Shark, Aman Gupta, also commented on the recent developments on the show. He revealed that he had never sponsored the show, yet he had been on the show since the beginning. He added that he could vouch that the makers did not make the decision because of money. Aman showed his gratitude for the chance to be on the show and shared that sharks will come and go as change is inevitable.
Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal, shared the reason for his exit
During the ET Startup Awards, Deepinder Goyal shared about his experience on the show. He answered several questions regarding his time in Shark Tank Season 3. However, when a journalist, Samidha Sharma, asked him about his return to Season 4, he responded:
“I, unfortunately, can’t go back because Swiggy sponsored Shark Tank this time and kicked me out, at least that’s what I heard.”
