After premiering at the 67th BFI London Film Festival in 2023, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s highly anticipated film The Buckingham Murders is set to release in Indian theatres this September. On Tuesday, the makers shared a teaser of the gripping crime thriller, showcasing Kareena as a detective investigating a child’s murder.

Set in London, the teaser begins with a scene of a child walking in a park while a voiceover inquires about the joining date of a new detective. Kareena soon appears on screen. The next scene features her in a street scuffle with a man, as the voiceover describes her as “very tough”. Following this, visuals of a child’s blood stained t-shirt are shown, revealing the disappearance of a child from an Indian family. Kareena is then seen interrogating a suspect about the murder.

In The Buckingham Murders, Kareena Kapoor portrays a grieving mother who must solve the murder of a 10-year-old in Buckinghamshire. While she tries to leave her past behind, it also drives her to crack the case.

Kareena’s intense role in The Buckingham Murders marks a departure from her usual fun-loving characters. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the movie also marks Kareena’s first collaboration with the acclaimed director, as well as her debut as a co-producer.

Earlier this year, Kareena Kapoor expressed her excitement about the role, stating, “I loved playing this part because it’s the first time I’m portraying a detective, and I’m a huge crime drama fan. It’s a career-defining role for me and one of my best characters.”

Festive offer

The film features an exceptional ensemble cast, including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Written by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor, and Raghav Raj Kakker, The Buckingham Murders will release in theatres on September 13.
