Three girls from Bengal village ‘missing’, probe on | Kolkata News

THREE girls – including two minors in their teens – from the same village in Malda district have been missing for six days, their families have alleged, with the police saying on Saturday that a search is on for them.

On December 12, the families of the three girls approached the local police station, saying they suspect that the girls may have been kidnapped while on their way to school on December 11 morning.

The mother of one of the missing students said, “When I returned home from work on Monday afternoon, my daughter had still not come back. By evening , I started looking for her in the village. Then I came to know that two other girls are also missing.”

The mother of another missing girl said, “I filed a written complaint at the police station on Tuesday morning. We are afraid that someone has kidnapped the girls. I did not get much help from the police.”

The local panchayat pradhan said, “I have repeatedly urged the police that the matter must be looked into. I will go and do so again.”

Festive offer

Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Yadav said that an investigation was underway. Searches were being conducted at several railway stations and bus stands. “The anxiety of the families is normal. However, the police are seriously investigating the matter.”
