During a total eclipse, the sky goes dark, almost like nighttime during the day. But remember, you can only see a total eclipse from specific places, so it’s a rare chance. That’s why people call it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

First let’s understand what is a solar Eclipse? So basically A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some or all of the Sun’s light. When the Moon completely covers the Sun, it creates a shadow on Earth, making what’s called a “path of totality.” This path is like a narrow strip that moves across the ground. If you’re in this strip, you can see a total solar eclipse if the weather is clear. Inside this path, when the Moon fully covers the Sun, the sky goes dark, like it’s early morning or evening.

Unless people are on the path of totality, they’ll only see a partial eclipse. For them, the sky will just get a bit darker during the eclipse, depending on how much of the Sun the Moon covers from their viewpoint.

The total solar eclipse of 2024 will occur on April 8. The total darkening of the sky, also known as totality, will be visible across a 185-kilometre stretch between Mexico, the US, and Canada. As many as 18 different US States will also get to see it. However, it won’t be visible to skywatchers in India,

According to the Indian Standard Time (IST), the total solar eclipse will begin at 9:12 pm on April 8, totality will start at 10:08 pm, and will end on April 9, 2024, at 2:22 am.

Many viewers have a question is looking at the eclipse safe? let me answer it for you. The Sun’s surface is so bright that if you stare at any portion of it, no matter how small, it produces enough light to damage individual retinal cells. Skygazers across the world have been advised to wear protective eyewear, such as licensed eclipse glasses, during its partial phases. Failure to do so can burn your eye’s retinas and cause permanent damage or even blindness.
