Tripura’s ruling BJP and its allies, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura and TIPRA Motha, held a coordination meeting on Monday and chalked out a strategy for the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya said, “We held a coordination meeting among the BJP, IPFT and TIPRA Motha today. All MLAs, members of the Tripura autonomous district council (MDCs) and senior leaders joined the meeting. We formulated a roadmap for fighting the Lok Sabha elections…”

“We have decided to ensure coordination among our parties from the grassroots level up to win in both the Lok Sabha constituencies and strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

“We will hold a padyatra from Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan on March 27 and submit the nomination paper to the authorities. Our candidate for the East Tripura constituency will submit her nomination paper at Ambassa in Dhalai district on March 28. All ministers, MLAs, MDCs, all other leaders and supporters will join both rallies,” he said.

West Tripura will go to the polls on April 19 and the Scheduled Tribes-reserved East Tripura will vote on April 26.

Festive offer

Chief Minister Manik Saha, West Tripura candidate Biplab Kumar Deb, East Tripura candidate Kriti Singh Debbarma and TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma were among those who attended the meeting.

Minister Animesh Debbarma of the TIPRA Motha told reporters later, “Massive activities have already started from the booth level across the state. When our candidates go to submit nomination papers, people will see the support the BJP candidates enjoy. This is a historic day for the democratic people of the state.”
