Upcoming Netflix docu-series ‘The Romantics’ to feature Aditya Chopra.

Netflix upcoming docu -series “The Romantics, celebrating the movies of late Yash Chopra will feature a very rare presence by his own son Aditya Chopra.

The four -part docuseries is basically a tribute to late Yash Chopra .who directed the classic and built an empire for Bollywood romance such as “Lamhe” , “Jab Tak Hai Jaan”, “Dil To Pagal Hai”, Chandni”,and many more, while also establishing the Bollywood powerhouse studio Yash Raj Films.

Talking about late Yash Chopra his son, Aditya Chopra ,who himself a director as well as a producer ,feature in the docu-series along with the three generation mega stars who have closely worked with Yash Raj Films through Yash Chopra’s Existence.

Generations of filmmakers have followed the Yash Chopra visual archetype .You see traces of in the East-meet-West” vibe of Karan Johar’s films ;the subtle ,underplayed display of wealth in Zoya akhtar’s  cinema; the foreign locations, which became ubiquitous in Hindi commercial cinema of the 2000s.

“These were films so rooted in Indian aesthetics, but against the backdrop of something more global. It was import export kind of thing,” laughs Mundhra. Under all this inventiveness was a formula that spoke of the Chopra’s keen business sense, and to their audience as it expanded beyond borders; and evolved, getting acquainted with a new kind of leisure and the idea of luxury as spending power spiked post Liberalisation in 1991.

The Romantics on Netflix explores how Yash and Aditya Chopra successfully steered Bollywood towards love, the docu-series will features 35 leading voices from the Hindi film industry, diving into the history of Bollywood and its leading stars a household name globally.

As a filmmaker , Aditya Chopra has directed movies such as “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”, “Mohabbatein”,”Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and “Befikre”.

Aditya Chopra’s producing credits include titles as “Saathiya”, “Dhoom” series, “Bunty Aur Babli”, “Band Baja Baaraat”. He is also the main former of YRF’s ambitious spy universe which includes Salman Khan-led “Tiger” films , Hrithik Roshan’s “War” and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan”.

“The Romantics”will also take a deep dive into the the history of Bollywood through the lens of YRF’s also the impact on Bollywood to its audiences for love films in a form of “Rom coms”, Heart Felt” to its primary threshold .

The Romantics is directed by Oscar-and Emmy –nominated filmmaker Smirti Mundhra, who returns to Netflix after the success of globally loves franchises Indian Matchmaking and Never Have I Ever.

The relationship between Aditya and his father is undefined from the success of Yash Raj Films and in which the global audiences came across to understand love. Mundhra’s Goal with The Romantics on Netflix is to evoke a deep sense of historic yet nostalgic Indian cinema and classics, “especially during a time when film industries are struggling to recover from the pandemic and are facing challenges in finding a footing in the volatile entertainment ecosystem. I hope The Romantics positions the Hindi film industry as a major contributor to global cinema and it receives the reverence and respect that other global film industries receive,” Mundhra concludes.
