The film features Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri as newlyweds who are on the chase of finding their ‘woh wala video’ which gets lost during a robbery. Recalling their memories associated with that time, the lead cast opened up about the same during the trailer launch in Mumbai.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video Trailer Launch: Triptii Dimri jokingly reveals she was ‘3 years old’ in 1997; Rajkummar Rao recalls the era and says, “Jahan stress, phone, Instagram nahi hota tha”
Revealing that she was only three years old in 1997, Triptii Dimri had an entertaining anecdote to share about her father’s love for films. She said, “Mere Papa ko na films dekhne ka bahut shauk hai. Jab se maine hosh sambaala hai, maine unko films dekhte hue dekha hai – purani filmein. Bachpan mein aisa lagta tha ki kya dekh rahi hain, bade hote hote humein laga yaar yeh jo bhi kar rahein hain sahi kar rahein hai. Woh poora din filmein dekh kar haste rehte the aur aaj bhi wahi karte hain. Unke saath filmein dekhne mein jo mazaa aata hai, woh shaayad akele dekhne mein nahi aata (My father has a penchant for films. Ever since my childhood, I have seen him watch films – especially old films. I wouldn’t understand his love as a kid but as we grew up we liked what he was doing and would often join him in this film viewing experience. He would sit the entire day and watch films and laugh. Even today, I prefer to watch films with him rather than alone.)” and added that now, she watches old films with him which are not only from the 70s but also from the 60s.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao expressed his pride over being the 90s kid and added, “I have grown up watching all these films – jo 90s mein aayi thi (the ones from the 90s). Usse hi inspire hoke maine decide kiya tha ki mujhe bhi yeh karna hai life mein. Unn actors aur kahaniyon ne ek bahut bada mark choda hai meri life mein (Inspired by that, I decided I want to do this in life. In fact, the actors and stories of that generation have left a massive impact in my life). He further expressed gratitude towards the filmmaker for giving him this opportunity to relive those nostalgic memories and shared, “Thanks to Raj again ki woh uss era ko wapas lekar aaye jahan hum sab the – jahan stress nahi tha, phone ya Instagram nahi hota tha, saral zindagi hoti thi. Bahut mazaa ata tha. So ismein woh nostalgia bahut bhar bhar ke hain.. (He got that era back where all of us there together – where there was no stress, no phone, no Instagram – it was a simple life and we would have so much fun together. This film has lots and lots of that nostalgia) but it is way more than that. Film ki kahaani apne aap mein bahut funny aur entertaining hai (The story in itself too is quite funny and entertaining).”
Also starring an ensemble cast of Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Archana Puran Singh, among others, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and it will release on October 11.
