Back in January, YouTube stated that it had no plans to launch a native app for Apple’s first spatial computer, Vision Pro. However, in just a few weeks, things have turned around. YouTube has officially confirmed to The Verge that the company is currently developing a native YouTube app for Vision Pro. Additionally, the video-sharing platform has optimized YouTube on Safari for a great experience.
At launch, Vision Pro included over 600 native apps specifically developed for the platform and was also compatible with most iPhone and iPad apps. However, big brands like Netflix, YouTube, and Spotify confirmed that they currently have no plans to launch a native app for Vision Pro.

Returning to YouTube, a developer named Christian Selig, known for creating Apollo for Reddit, released an unofficial YouTube app named Juno for Vision Pro, a paid third-party app. This app seems to work well with Vision Pro, which might have driven YouTube to release an official app for Vision Pro, most likely to be a free app.
Currently, the Juno app is priced at $4.99, offering capabilities like scaling windows, scrolling, scrubbing, and more. However, due to some restrictions, the app does not allow users to change resolutions or view comments, which are available when using YouTube on the Safari web browser.
Apple has done a tremendous job of attracting developers, resulting in having over 600 native apps at launch. In fact, the more mature Meta Quest 3, priced at $500, has just over 500 apps. We could expect to see more apps and services coming to Vision Pro in the coming days.
