Legendary actress Zeenat Aman has proudly embraced being an aunty in a heartwarming Instagram post, challenging the negative connotation often associated with it. Reflecting on the role older women play in our lives, she celebrated the title that many shy away from. “Who decided that ‘aunty’ is a derogatory term? It certainly wasn’t me,” Zeenat wrote, emphasizing how these women provide comfort, guidance, and warmth.

Zeenat recalled her own experience with her stepmother, Shamim, whom she fondly referred to as ‘Aunty.’ She shared how Shamim played a significant role in her life, offering support by cooking meals and caring for her sons when they were young. “I’m an aunty and proud. It’s a tag I’ll happily wear,” she declared, sharing a picture of herself in a T-shirt with the word aunty emblazoned on it.
